The
2004 Beanie Festival was a great year with 3 seperate exhibitions spaces
within the Araluen Galleries. More than 3000 beanies were sold over the
festival weekend. Over 500 people attended the opening night celebrations
at the 2004 Family Night Out

Sharing Circles More than
300 people attended workshops as part of the the festival in a wide range
of textiles including the construction of beanies, dilly bags, felting,
rag rugs, knitting and crochet.Many thanks to Festivals Australia and
the Craft Council for their assistance.

installation of bird beanies made using fibre techniques.
The festival, in collaboration with Ernabella Arts, organised three exhibitions,
held at the Araluen in Alice, another in Sydney and another in Adelaide,
showcasing textiles from Ernabella. The exhibition is a collaborative
work from the indigenous artists from Ernabella and non- indigenous artists
who have worked side with them during past beanie festivals.

The '2004 Flashest Beanies
in Australia' Competition
Thankyou to all those who entered the '2004 Flashest Beanies in Australia'
Competition. The competition was extremely fierce and our judges had a
difficult time deliberating over the gorgeous beanies.
The '2004 Flashest Beanies in Australia'
exhibition was open from July 10-22 August 2004, in the Sitzler Gallery
at the Araluen Galleries.

Beanie Central
Beanie Central was once again a fantastic
event. People came from near and far, drawn by the thrill of the chase
for the perfect beanie, impressed by the quality of the tea shop cakes,
amazed by the demonstrations of Pitjantjatjarra spinning- a unique central
Australian aboriginal skill. |
