Waltraud Reiner

 

Waltraud Reiner Austrian born, trained in London.  Since her Graduation from Fashion School in Austria in 1976, Milliner Waltraud Reiner has made her name in millinery and fashion and has followed her passion for hats in Australia and worldwide.  She lived for four years in London and trained under Royal Milliner, Rose Cory, who she regards very highly.  After working for Philip Somerville, Milliner to Princess Di, Waltraud migrating to Melbourne and opened her made to Measure Studio "By Appointment Only."  Waltraud has been a senior lecturer at Kangan Batman TAFE for 13 years- and was also part of the curriculum development for the 4 year Millinery Certificate course in Millinery.  She is the instigator of the Blue Hat project and the Blankets for Happiness.  Besides Solo Exhibitions in Australia, Waltraud exhibits and travels as a lecturer regularly to USA, UK, Europe and Scandinavia.

While wearing different hats, beanies and mukata Hilary Furlong has spent her life in art - working on it, or trying to make it. She lived on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands for nine years before moving to Alice Springs in 2008.

I have worked in many roles including artsworker, facilitator, artistic director, tutor, production assistant, event manager, producer, curator and artist. I am very passionate about the arts and I strongly believe that arts practice and creative expression are integral to a community’s vitality. I am very excited about being a judge and look forward to this wonderful and vibrant community event that draws people from around Australia.

Rosemary E Wiese

 

Rosemary is an active member of the Alice Springs business community.  She has enjoyed a diverse and colourful career in hospitality, accounting, bookkeeping, training and management.  She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member and Regional Facilitator of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and an Executive of the Chamber of Commerce since October 2005.  Rosemary currently owns a number of local businesses and is a long time supporter of the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.
